The Al-Naseem Substation in Riyadh is a $8.39 million (SAR 8.39 million) 132kV electrical transmission facility located in the Al-Naseem District. Developed for the Saudi Electricity Company, the project was constructed by Poullaides Construction Company Arabia.
Scope of Work
The project required high-level civil and electro-mechanical coordination to deliver a technically demanding energy facility. The scope of work encompassed:
- Civil Engineering & Construction: Execution of bulk earthworks, structural foundations, and reinforced concrete superstructures for the main substation building, control rooms, and transformer bays.
- Electrical Infrastructure: Installation and integration of a 132kV Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) framework, high-voltage transformers, and capacitor banks.
- Network Integration: Construction and testing of protection systems, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) units, and automated control systems to safely interface the facility with Saudi Arabia’s national grid.
- Auxiliary Installations: Delivery of vital mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, structural fireproofing, perimeter security walls, and specialized HVAC networks designed for high-load electrical environments.
